Interior Designer Interview: Woodson & Rummerfield's House of Design

Two weeks ago we did a post on the genius of interior designers Ron Wooodson and Jamie Rummerfield, and the incredible job they did with Christina Aguilera's mansion in Beverly Hills. Designers to the stars, their signature style is old Hollywood glamour meets modern vintage design.  We had the pleasure of sitting down with the very handsome and charming Ron Woodson for an exclusive interview on interior design and attaining a chic living space. Thank you  Ron!

Q:  Is there a classic—a staple—that is always a part of your design…a signature?
Yes, I think it is mixing the old with the new.

Q: What are 5 essential pieces that very individual should have in their home?
Something black, an animal print, fabulous lighting, one unique vintage piece, and a stunning coffee table book.

Q: If you can splurge on only one piece of furniture, what would it be?
A piece of art.

Q: In your opinion, what makes a great room?
Proper scale and proportion.

Q: Where are the best ways to save money if someone is on a budget but wants high style?
Paint.

Q: What room is your favorite room to decorate?
The living room because it is typically what people see first and there is so much you can do.

Q: What is your favorite vintage find so far, and where did you find it?
A chair I found on the side of the road. I threw it in the back of my Mercedes and re did it. Now it looks like a $3,000 dollar designer chair.

Q: What inspires you?
Travel.

Q: When starting a new project, what is the first thing you do?
I try to get to know the client really well and find out what really makes them tick andhow they like to live.

Q: What are 3 ideas for people who have a small living space?
I think mirrored walls because they make the room look larger, proportioned furnishings, and great lighting.
