Fifty Shades of Grey Casting Picks

Although we may have been the last people on the planet to do so, we finally succumbed to the pressure and read Fifty Shades of Grey. Aside from the repetitive phrases, elementary vocabulary and Twilight-esque plot, the trilogy was an entertaining summer read that kept us captivated for nearly 1,500 pages. Universal Pictures and Focus Features recently secured the rights to adapt the series into a film, and we can't wait to see who they cast as the books' main characters, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. For now, here are our top pics for Christian and Ana.

Margharita Missoni's Wedding

Margharita Missoni married her handsome beau, race car driver Eugenio Amos, over the weekend in Italy. The bride and groom had a traditional Italian ceremony that was nothing short of adorable! The bride designed her own wedding gown, a flower-covered white silk dress. She later changed into a pale pink version of the same dress for the reception.  Her sister Teresa was a bridesmaid and wore a floral gown and a fresh-flower headdress that matched the bride’s bouquet.  Of course the wedding was filled with the signature Missoni designs, photos of the wedding show guests dining on Missoni cushions and colorful tablecloths which were scattered on the grass. The wedding cake was a giant heart-shaped cake covered in fresh raspberries. The star-studded guest list included former Vogue Editor Carine Roitfeld, shoe designer Charlotte Olympia Dellal, and fashion photographer Mario Testino to name a few.  It looks absolutely enchanting!

Congratulations!

Decorating with Orchids

We always love the flower arrangements at hotels throughout Los Angeles. Last night we were dining at Cut at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, and fell in love with the stunning yet simple orchid flower arrangement in the main lobby. Sorry the photo is a bit fuzzy, but I just had to share it with you! So simple yet so elegant- all white orchids, candles, and light mint colored vases.

The Legend That Is Dorothy Draper

The design world has taken a dynamic turn with glamour. The rebirth of Hollywood Regency, seen in the works of our favorites, Kelly WearstlerJonathan AdlerWoodson & Rummerfield's, and Miles Redd, has become a classic standpoint that is here to stay. It’s been hard to find an interiors magazine in the past few years that is not in some way paying tribute to this style. It has risen in popularity mostly, I believe, due to the fact that it doesn’t matter what size your home and budget, there are elements that anyone can incorporate in their home to achieve this luxurious look. Hollywood Regency style emerged through the work of interior designers, such as Dorothy Draper, Elsie de Wolfe, and William Haines, who were hired to transform the homes of film stars in Hollywood’s Golden Age of the 1930s through to 1960s. My personal favorite of these iconic designers is the legend that is, Dorothy Draper. Here are some beautiful images of her historic work.
