Decorating with Fornasetti

Piero Fornasetti lived most of his life in Milan. He was an Italian interior decorator, painter, sculptor and engraver. The famous face on his work belongs to operatic soprano Lina Cavalieri. He found her face in a 19th century magazine. He has made over 500 variations of her face and admits that he doesn't know what inspired him to do so. He started to make them and just never stopped! His style is black and white, echoing Greek and Roman architecture as an influence. Today most of his work is in room accessories, plates, fabric, wallpaper,etc. His son, Barnaba Fornasetti continues the designs in his father's name.

We love Fornasetti and a few of these plates are definitely a way to add sophistication and style to any space in your home. The teacup, again, is totally seductive and a yes! Just a hint of Fornasetti in a room...could make all the difference between boring and sublime!

Karl Lagerfeld's Paris Apartment

For those of you who don't know him, Karl Lagerfeld is the head designer and creative director for the fashion house Chanel, as well as designer for his own private label, and ready to wear designer for the fashion house Fendi. He is one of the most recognizable faces in the fashion industry, and one of our personal favorites. His apartment is a great example of his style. In some areas you see maximalist pieces and in others you see pure minimalism. We love his unique taste in contemporary furniture, and creative use of accessories.

Hollywood Glam Pad

Los Angeles is filled with people with good taste. We love those cute little homes that couples have buoyantly decorated together. While house hunting with a friend and her fiance this weekend, we came across a gorgeous transitional home in the heart of West Hollywood. The house was close to fabulous Robertson Blvd, and had dazzling updates throughout. But what we loved most was the decor that came with the house. The home is as trendy as can be. With a tuxedo tufted sofa, gorgeous cornice box, lacquered finished, and a luxe chandeliers, this home defines glamour. Photos courtesy of trulia.com.
