Decorating a Vanity

Interior Paint Colors

When it's time for something new, there's no better way to update the look and feel of a room than with a fresh coat of paint. Painting can be an easy yet dramatic way to give a room a designer touch. When painting, you have lots of options- you can paint an entire room with ceilings, paint walls only, or create just on accent wall. In addition, there are different types of paints, such as matte, semi-gloss, etc. Flat paint, for instance, is best suited for ceilings, walls, surface imperfections, and anywhere else that a muted low-reflecting surface is desired. 

Because it takes more effort to remove stains from this type of paint, a flat finish is best suited for the low-traffic areas of your home. Use low-luster, satin, and eggshell paint on areas where a sheen is desired. These paints are easier to clean than flat paint and hold up better under repeated washings. They withstand the wear and tear of high-traffic areas-hallways, woodwork, kitchens, baths, children's rooms, and playrooms-more easily than other finishes.

Semi-gloss and high-gloss paint and enamel are best suited for doors, railings, shelves, kitchen cabinets, furniture, window sills, and any other surface you wish to accentuate. The higher the gloss, the more luxurious of look. Below are our favorite turquoise looks. Paint a wall turquoise and then get a vintage Chinoise and paint it Chinese red for an elevated designer touch! 

DIY: How to Reupholster Chairs

I got these great chairs from the flea market this past weekend, I love the style, as it reminds me of the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs, but they clearly need a face lift! Reupholstering chairs is a super easy way to give any old looking chair a fresh face. I stopped by the fabric store and got myself 3/4 yard of Sunbrella striped fabric. I love Sunbrella's outdoor fabrics because they won't fade in the sun- making it perfect for these outdoor iron chairs. All you need are scissors, a staple gun, and a screw driver.
